# Summer vs Paint book

The clearest difference is rating: Summer at 4.7 against Paint book's 4.3. Summer also leads on iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). Paint book's advantage is review sentiment (67% vs 54%). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Summer sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Paint book sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 3 months. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Summer holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 103 and 178 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of Summer's written reviews are positive against 67% of Paint book's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Summer ships an update every 2 weeks, Paint book fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
