# Ling vs AP Academy

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: AP Academy at none against Ling's 22. AP Academy also leads on ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). Ling's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (17K vs 8). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Ling sells 20 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. AP Academy asks for nothing beyond the download.

AP Academy holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ling has 17K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Ling ships an update weekly, AP Academy every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
