# Messenger VPN vs Beacon

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Beacon at 100% against Messenger VPN's 32%. Beacon also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 3) and rating (5.0 vs 4.5). Messenger VPN's advantage is ratings volume (3.6K vs 17). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Messenger VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days. Beacon asks for nothing beyond the download.

Beacon holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Messenger VPN has 3.6K ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 32% of Messenger VPN's written reviews are positive against 100% of Beacon's.

Messenger VPN ships an update every 5 months, Beacon every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 2, 2026 respectively.
