With myAVR, you can do more than simply recall your Quick Selects. You can maintain them directly from the main controller, making it easier to configure your favorite listening and viewing setups without switching to the Denon/Marantz app or navigating your receiver's onscreen menus. TIPS • For reliable network control, set your AVR's Network Control setting to “Always On.” This may increase standby power consumption. • Your AVR must be connected to your local network using Ethernet or Wi-Fi. • A static IP address is not required, but can provide the fastest startup. If your receiver's IP address changes, myAVR can automatically find it again.

Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Channels at 4.7 against myAVR's 3.9. Channels also leads on ratings volume (623 vs 21) and device support (3 vs 1). myAVR's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 73%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Channels holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Channels has 623 ratings behind it against 21, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 73% of Channels's written reviews are positive against 100% of myAVR's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Channels ships an update every 3 weeks, myAVR every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
