# YLMSportScience vs Photo Finish

The clearest difference is monetization model: Photo Finish at freemium against YLMSportScience's subscription. Photo Finish also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 months). YLMSportScience's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.3). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. YLMSportScience sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and Photo Finish sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

YLMSportScience holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 19 and 25 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of YLMSportScience's written reviews are positive against 75% of Photo Finish's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

YLMSportScience ships an update every 5 months, Photo Finish every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
