# Shell vs Texaco

Shell and Texaco both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 60% of Texaco's written reviews are positive against 8% of Shell's. Texaco also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). Shell's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and chart position (#8 vs #175). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Shell against 4.9 for Texaco. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shell has 88K ratings behind it against 13K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 8% of Shell's written reviews are positive against 60% of Texaco's.
