# Opera Browser with VPN vs Phoenix

The clearest difference is rating: Opera Browser with VPN at 4.7 against Phoenix's 4.2. Opera Browser with VPN also leads on ratings volume (264K vs 16K) and chart position (#37 vs unranked). Phoenix's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs fortnightly) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Opera Browser with VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Opera Browser with VPN has 264K ratings behind it against 16K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 59% of Opera Browser with VPN's written reviews are positive against 68% of Phoenix's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Opera Browser with VPN ships an update fortnightly, Phoenix every 3 days. Both last shipped on October 26, 2026.
