# Laters vs Barcodes

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Laters at none against Barcodes's 3. Laters also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8). Barcodes's advantage is ratings volume (1.2K vs 1) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Barcodes sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Laters asks for nothing beyond the download.

Laters holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Barcodes has 1.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Laters ships an update every 2 months, Barcodes every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
