# Obscure vs Cipher Memories

The clearest difference is update cadence: Cipher Memories at every 2 days against Obscure's every 2 months. Cipher Memories also leads on price ($0.29 vs $2.99) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). Obscure's advantage is ratings volume (30 vs 1) and chart position (#200 vs unranked). On rating, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Obscure costs $2.99 and Cipher Memories $0.29 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Cipher Memories holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Obscure has 30 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Obscure ships an update every 2 months, Cipher Memories every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
