# Screen Recorder vs Live Recorder

Screen Recorder and Live Recorder both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 65% of Screen Recorder's written reviews are positive against 53% of Live Recorder's. Screen Recorder also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). Live Recorder's advantage is ratings volume (4.1K vs 462). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Recorder sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Live Recorder sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for Screen Recorder against 4.4 for Live Recorder. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Live Recorder has 4.1K ratings behind it against 462, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 65% of Screen Recorder's written reviews are positive against 53% of Live Recorder's.

Screen Recorder ships an update every 3 weeks, Live Recorder monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
