# Olvid vs RueChat

The clearest difference is rating: Olvid at 4.5 against RueChat's 3.8. Olvid also leads on ratings volume (42 vs 5) and device support (3 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Olvid sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.49 per month and RueChat sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Olvid holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Olvid has 42 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 80% of Olvid's written reviews are positive against 73% of RueChat's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
