# LuxCloud vs SMA Energy

The clearest difference is monetization model: LuxCloud at free against SMA Energy's free with in-app purchases. LuxCloud also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). SMA Energy's advantage is ratings volume (1.4K vs 31) and rating (3.7 vs 3.4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SMA Energy holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SMA Energy has 1.4K ratings behind it against 31, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 18% of LuxCloud's written reviews are positive against 29% of SMA Energy's.

LuxCloud ships an update every 2 weeks, SMA Energy every 2 months. Both last shipped on October 21, 2026.
