# YouCare vs Kernels

The clearest difference is rating: Kernels at 4.7 against YouCare's 4.2. YouCare's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and review sentiment (100% vs 83%). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Kernels holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 10 and 10 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of YouCare's written reviews are positive against 83% of Kernels's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

YouCare ships an update weekly, Kernels every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
