# CookIN vs Scoolinary

The clearest difference is monetization model: CookIN at free with in-app purchases against Scoolinary's subscription. CookIN also leads on ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (12.1 vs 15.1). Scoolinary's advantage is rating (4.9 vs 4.4) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CookIN sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Scoolinary sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Scoolinary holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scoolinary has 176 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 50% of CookIN's written reviews are positive against 61% of Scoolinary's.

CookIN ships an update every 2 months, Scoolinary fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
