# Chef vs You.Chef

The clearest difference is update cadence: You.Chef at every 3 days against Chef's every 21 months. You.Chef also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). Chef's advantage is ratings volume (20 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13 vs 16.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chef sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month and You.Chef sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

You.Chef holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chef has 20 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Chef ships an update every 21 months, You.Chef every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on September 19, 2026 and October 3, 2026 respectively.
