# Chef vs GrubReel

The clearest difference is update cadence: GrubReel at every 4 months against Chef's every 21 months. Chef's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (13 vs 18.6). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chef sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month and GrubReel sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chef ships an update every 21 months, GrubReel every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on September 19, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
