# Woodsmith vs Outside

The clearest difference is rating: Outside at 4.6 against Woodsmith's 3.7. Outside also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (1.9K vs 33). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Woodsmith sells 29 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Outside sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $89.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Outside holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Outside has 1.9K ratings behind it against 33, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 10% of Woodsmith's written reviews are positive against 22% of Outside's.

Woodsmith ships an update every 4 months, Outside every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
