# Guru VPN vs Guard Med

The clearest difference is rating: Guard Med at 4.8 against Guru VPN's 4.5. Guru VPN's advantage is ratings volume (1.9K vs 34) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 6 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Guru VPN sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and Guard Med sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Guard Med holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Guru VPN has 1.9K ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 78% of Guru VPN's written reviews are positive against 80% of Guard Med's.

Guru VPN ships an update every 10 days, Guard Med every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
