# AR vs In extremis

The clearest difference is update cadence: In extremis at every 2 days against AR's every 2 months. In extremis also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

AR ships an update every 2 months, In extremis every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
