# Notes Writer Browser vs PinWords

The clearest difference is rating: Notes Writer Browser at 4.6 against PinWords's 3.8. Notes Writer Browser also leads on ratings volume (3.2K vs 10). PinWords's advantage is iOS requirement (16.0 vs 26.0). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes Writer Browser sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month and PinWords sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Notes Writer Browser holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notes Writer Browser has 3.2K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 48% of Notes Writer Browser's written reviews are positive against 50% of PinWords's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Notes Writer Browser ships an update fortnightly, PinWords every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
