# ULar vs Discreet

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Discreet at 55% against ULar's 4%. Discreet also leads on rating (4.4 vs 1.5) and monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). ULar's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ULar sells 23 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 3 months and Discreet sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Discreet holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Discreet has 2.1K ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 4% of ULar's written reviews are positive against 55% of Discreet's.

ULar ships an update fortnightly, Discreet every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
