# ForeignLanguage Graded Readers vs Assimil

The clearest difference is rating: Assimil at 4.4 against ForeignLanguage Graded Readers's 3.1. Assimil also leads on update cadence (every 4 days vs every 6 months). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ForeignLanguage Graded Readers sells 5 one-off in-app purchases and Assimil sells 45 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Assimil holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 30 and 29 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of ForeignLanguage Graded Readers's written reviews are positive against 32% of Assimil's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ForeignLanguage Graded Readers ships an update every 6 months, Assimil every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
