# Hearty Journal vs Lucky journal

The clearest difference is ads: Hearty Journal at none against Lucky journal's shown. Hearty Journal also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.7). Lucky journal's advantage is update cadence (monthly vs every 3 months). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hearty Journal sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.49 per month and Lucky journal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hearty Journal holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 44 and 30 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 92% of Hearty Journal's written reviews are positive against 100% of Lucky journal's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hearty Journal ships an update every 3 months, Lucky journal monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
