# Hearty Journal vs Water Tracker

The clearest difference is ads: Hearty Journal at none against Water Tracker's shown. Hearty Journal also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). Water Tracker's advantage is update cadence (every 10 days vs every 3 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Hearty Journal sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.49 per month and Water Tracker sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Hearty Journal ships an update every 3 months, Water Tracker every 10 days. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
