# Notes Writer vs Wellnote

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Wellnote at 77% against Notes Writer's 45%. Wellnote also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). Notes Writer's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly) and ratings volume (7.3K vs 914). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes Writer sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Wellnote sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Wellnote holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Notes Writer has 7.3K ratings behind it against 914, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 45% of Notes Writer's written reviews are positive against 77% of Wellnote's.

Notes Writer ships an update weekly, Wellnote fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
