# ScentSetter vs Scent diffuse

The clearest difference is rating: Scent diffuse at 5.0 against ScentSetter's 2.8. Scent diffuse also leads on update cadence (every 3 months vs every 17 months). ScentSetter's advantage is ratings volume (8 vs 1) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Scent diffuse holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ScentSetter has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ScentSetter ships an update every 17 months, Scent diffuse every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
