# Train Effective vs True Trainer

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Train Effective at 13K against True Trainer's 11. Train Effective also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). True Trainer's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 70%). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Train Effective sells 16 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and True Trainer sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

True Trainer holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Train Effective has 13K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 70% of Train Effective's written reviews are positive against 80% of True Trainer's.

Train Effective ships an update every 3 weeks, True Trainer every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 27, 2026.
