# DeerCast vs WeatherWise.app

DeerCast and WeatherWise.app both sit at 4.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 77% of WeatherWise.app's written reviews are positive against 63% of DeerCast's. DeerCast's advantage is ratings volume (7K vs 796) and chart position (#3 vs #15). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DeerCast sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per year and WeatherWise.app sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.5 for DeerCast against 4.6 for WeatherWise.app. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DeerCast has 7K ratings behind it against 796, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 63% of DeerCast's written reviews are positive against 77% of WeatherWise.app's.

DeerCast ships an update every 3 weeks, WeatherWise.app fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
