# EarForge vs Tonality

The clearest difference is rating: EarForge at 4.6 against Tonality's 3.8. EarForge also leads on ratings volume (292 vs 25). Tonality's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. EarForge sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Tonality sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

EarForge holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EarForge has 292 ratings behind it against 25, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 63% of EarForge's written reviews are positive against 67% of Tonality's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

EarForge ships an update every 5 weeks, Tonality weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
