# PGEAR vs Garmin Catalyst™

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Garmin Catalyst™ at none against PGEAR's 4. Garmin Catalyst™ also leads on review sentiment (82% vs 50%) and ratings volume (120 vs 4). PGEAR's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.5). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PGEAR sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. Garmin Catalyst™ asks for nothing beyond the download.

PGEAR holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Garmin Catalyst™ has 120 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 50% of PGEAR's written reviews are positive against 82% of Garmin Catalyst™'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly monthly. The most recent releases landed on September 24, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
