# Hover Dog 3D vs Fail Run

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Hover Dog 3D at 100% against Fail Run's 41%. Hover Dog 3D also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 1). Fail Run's advantage is ratings volume (34K vs 12) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fail Run sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Hover Dog 3D asks for nothing beyond the download.

Fail Run holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fail Run has 34K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Hover Dog 3D's written reviews are positive against 41% of Fail Run's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Hover Dog 3D ships an update every 2 months, Fail Run every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 8, 2026 and October 1, 2026 respectively.
