# PRO8 vs Defender Empower

The clearest difference is rating: PRO8 at 5.0 against Defender Empower's 4.6. PRO8 also leads on iOS requirement (9.0 vs 13.0). Defender Empower's advantage is ratings volume (1.8K vs 1) and update cadence (every 7 months vs every 16 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

PRO8 holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Defender Empower has 1.8K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

PRO8 ships an update every 16 months, Defender Empower every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
