# Clock Face vs Always On

The clearest difference is monetization model: Clock Face at free with in-app purchases against Always On's subscription. Clock Face also leads on ratings volume (17K vs 12) and device support (4 vs 2). Always On's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Clock Face sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Always On sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Always On holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Clock Face has 17K ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Clock Face ships an update fortnightly, Always On every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
