# SpaceWeatherLive vs Solar Activity Pro

The clearest difference is monetization model: SpaceWeatherLive at free with in-app purchases against Solar Activity Pro's subscription. SpaceWeatherLive also leads on ratings volume (189 vs 5) and chart position (#171 vs unranked). Solar Activity Pro's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SpaceWeatherLive sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Solar Activity Pro sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Solar Activity Pro holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SpaceWeatherLive has 189 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of SpaceWeatherLive's written reviews are positive against 50% of Solar Activity Pro's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

SpaceWeatherLive ships an update every 4 months, Solar Activity Pro every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
