# Barometer vs Professional Barometer

The clearest difference is ads: Barometer at none against Professional Barometer's shown. Barometer also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs every 42 months) and review sentiment (62% vs 45%). Professional Barometer's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.7) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Barometer sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Professional Barometer sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Professional Barometer holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 11 and 17 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of Barometer's written reviews are positive against 45% of Professional Barometer's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Barometer ships an update every 5 days, Professional Barometer every 42 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
