# Square Bird vs Spring Chicken

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Square Bird at 106K against Spring Chicken's 3. Spring Chicken's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 76%) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Square Bird sells 11 one-off in-app purchases and Spring Chicken sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Spring Chicken holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Square Bird has 106K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 76% of Square Bird's written reviews are positive against 100% of Spring Chicken's.

Square Bird ships an update monthly, Spring Chicken fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
