# Bowelle vs Digest

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Digest at none against Bowelle's 10. Digest also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.0). Bowelle's advantage is ratings volume (2.2K vs 2) and update cadence (every 8 days vs monthly). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Bowelle sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Digest asks for nothing beyond the download.

Digest holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Bowelle has 2.2K ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Bowelle ships an update every 8 days, Digest monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
