# Filter Stack vs Glitch Video Effect

The clearest difference is ads: Filter Stack at none against Glitch Video Effect's shown. Filter Stack also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and rating (4.7 vs 4.3). Glitch Video Effect's advantage is review sentiment (76% vs 64%) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 304). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Filter Stack sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and Glitch Video Effect sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Filter Stack holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 304 and 1.2K respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Filter Stack's written reviews are positive against 76% of Glitch Video Effect's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Filter Stack ships an update fortnightly, Glitch Video Effect every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on September 23, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
