# Amplenote vs Hive

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Amplenote at 78% against Hive's 30%. Amplenote also leads on rating (4.6 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (493 vs 87). Hive's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 11) and update cadence (every 4 days vs weekly). On price, ads, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Amplenote sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month. Hive asks for nothing beyond the download.

Amplenote holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Amplenote has 493 ratings behind it against 87, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 78% of Amplenote's written reviews are positive against 30% of Hive's.

Amplenote ships an update weekly, Hive every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
