# Pete's vs Jimmy's Egg

The clearest difference is rating: Pete's at 4.4 against Jimmy's Egg's 4.1. Pete's also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Pete's holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 48 and 115 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of Pete's's written reviews are positive against 40% of Jimmy's Egg's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Pete's ships an update every 2 months, Jimmy's Egg every 3 months. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
