# SimpleBackgrounds vs Wall Mate

The clearest difference is update cadence: Wall Mate at every 5 days against SimpleBackgrounds's every 4 weeks. Wall Mate also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SimpleBackgrounds sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Wall Mate sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SimpleBackgrounds ships an update every 4 weeks, Wall Mate every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on September 21, 2026 and September 14, 2026 respectively.
