# Dark Rem vs Translator*

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Dark Rem at 100% against Translator*'s 49%. Dark Rem also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 5 months). Translator*'s advantage is rating (4.4 vs 3.3) and ratings volume (2.8K vs 34). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Dark Rem sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Translator* sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Translator* holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Translator* has 2.8K ratings behind it against 34, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Dark Rem's written reviews are positive against 49% of Translator*'s, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Dark Rem ships an update every 2 months, Translator* every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on October 22, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
