# Kronos vs MapGenie

The clearest difference is ads: Kronos at none against MapGenie's shown. Kronos also leads on update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 48 months) and ratings volume (895 vs 144). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Kronos sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and MapGenie sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Kronos against 4.6 for MapGenie. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Kronos has 895 ratings behind it against 144, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 61% of Kronos's written reviews are positive against 53% of MapGenie's.

Kronos ships an update every 2 weeks, MapGenie every 48 months. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
