# Oaks Smart Lock vs EMC Security

The clearest difference is rating: EMC Security at 4.7 against Oaks Smart Lock's 3.2. EMC Security also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (5.2K vs 20). Oaks Smart Lock's advantage is iOS requirement (9.0 vs 16.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

EMC Security holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: EMC Security has 5.2K ratings behind it against 20, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 43% of Oaks Smart Lock's written reviews are positive against 41% of EMC Security's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Oaks Smart Lock ships an update every 4 months, EMC Security every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
