# Абук vs Hedgehog reader

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Абук at 545 against Hedgehog reader's 17. Абук also leads on chart position (#192 vs unranked) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.7). Hedgehog reader's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Абук sells 28 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Hedgehog reader sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Абук against 4.9 for Hedgehog reader. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Абук has 545 ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 62% of Абук's written reviews are positive against 67% of Hedgehog reader's.

Абук ships an update every 6 weeks, Hedgehog reader fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
