# Esse vs Convert Text

The clearest difference is rating: Esse at 4.9 against Convert Text's 4.4. Esse also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 13 months). Convert Text's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 79%). On price, ratings volume, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Convert Text sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Esse asks for nothing beyond the download.

Esse holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.4. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 56 and 42 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 79% of Esse's written reviews are positive against 100% of Convert Text's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
