# Metra Destinations vs MarcMap

The clearest difference is ads: MarcMap at none against Metra Destinations's shown. MarcMap also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (339 vs 22). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metra Destinations sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and MarcMap sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MarcMap holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MarcMap has 339 ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Metra Destinations ships an update every 5 weeks, MarcMap every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
