# mScanner vs PDF Editor

The clearest difference is review sentiment: mScanner at 83% against PDF Editor's 20%. mScanner also leads on ads (none vs shown) and device support (4 vs 2). PDF Editor's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and rating (4.5 vs 4.3). On price, ratings volume, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. mScanner sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and PDF Editor sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PDF Editor holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 418 and 461 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 83% of mScanner's written reviews are positive against 20% of PDF Editor's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

mScanner ships an update fortnightly, PDF Editor monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
