# mScanner vs PDF Scanner

mScanner and PDF Scanner both sit at 4.3 stars, but that hides the real split: 83% of mScanner's written reviews are positive against 0% of PDF Scanner's. mScanner also leads on ratings volume (418 vs 12) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months). PDF Scanner's advantage is monetization model (freemium vs subscription). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. mScanner sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days and PDF Scanner sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

mScanner holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: mScanner has 418 ratings behind it against 12, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 83% of mScanner's written reviews are positive against 0% of PDF Scanner's.

mScanner ships an update fortnightly, PDF Scanner every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
