# CTC vs RedGate

The clearest difference is rating: RedGate at 5.0 against CTC's 2.5. RedGate also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). CTC's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 2) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. RedGate sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 6 months. CTC asks for nothing beyond the download.

RedGate holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CTC has 327 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

CTC ships an update every 2 weeks, RedGate every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
